Whatman Aqueous and Solvent In-Line Filter/Degassers
Manufacturer: Cytiva
The Aqueous IFD and Solvent IFD microfiltration devices are in-line filter/degassers. As the name implies, the Aqueous IFD provides pure filtration of aqueous based HPLC mobile phases while the Solvent IFD is used with organically based HPLC mobile phases. Specifically, the Aqueous IFD is designed to work with mobile phases containing at least 20% of the aqueous component. The filter media used in this filter is nylon; for the Solvent IFD it is polypropylene. The devices employ a polypropylene housing, the circumference of which is sealed by a security ring. Solvent resistant connectors are included with each package. Both IFDs work on the principle of "bubble point" --- the point of pressure at which gasses will pass through a wet membrane. If pressure is maintained below the bubble point, the gas will not pass through the membrane and is trapped by the particular filter device. Pore size for both IFDs is 0.2m. The O-ring style (O) will accept 1/16" to 5/16" tubing sizes. Non O-ring style (N) IFDs will accept only 1/8" tubing. IFD end fitting kit contains 10 O-rings and 10 caps.
